Types of Beadwork

Raised
Raised beadwork involves making 3D designs by sewing beads into a padded surface. Raised beadwork is most commonly seen on items including pincushions, purses, and other decorative objects.

Embroidered 
With embroidery beadwork, beads are stitched directly into the fabric using techniques like lazy stitch and flat stitch. Some items decorated using embroidery beadwork include clothing, bags, or moccasins.

Whimseys
Whimseys began in the 19th century and are small, intricately beaded items made for sale for tourism. Whimseys include pincushions, needle cases, or small decorative boxes that feature floral patterns and symbolic motifs.
